Comic Book Cats, number 132: Worlds’ Finest #3 and #4

Comic Book Cats, number 132: Worlds’ Finest #3 and #4, drawn by Kevin Maguire, written by Paul Levitz, lettered by Carlos M. Mangual, and colored by Rosemary Cheetham, published by DC Comics in September and October 2012.
I really enjoyed the Worlds’ Finest series written by Paul Levitz. It was far and away one of the best things to come out of DC’s New 52. The series gave Levitz the opportunity to revisit/reimagine the team-up of Huntress and Power Girl that he had originally written back in the late 1970s.
After Earth-2 is invaded by the forces of Apokolips, Helena Wayne and Kara Zor-El find themselves transported by Boom Tube to a parallel world that is both hauntingly familiar and unsettlingly different. Assuming the guises of the Huntress and Power Girl, Helena and Kara struggle to survive on this alternate Earth while searching for a way to return home to their own reality.
Kevin Maguire and George Perez alternated on art duties for the first several issues of Worlds’ Finest. I wish both of them had remained on the series longer, but their short-run was high quality. On this pair of pages by Maguire from issues #3 and #4, we see first Kara and then Helena having run-ins with cats. These sequences definitely demonstrate Maguire’s aptitude for rendering expressive characters. He also does a fine job with both cats. Nice coloring work by Rosemary Cheetham, as well.
