Comic Book Cats, number 95: The Witching Hour #6, drawn by Mike Sekowsky and written by Dave Kaler, published by DC Comics in December 1969.
For the next ten days, I am going to spotlight some spooky cat-related comic book artwork to lead into Halloween 
On these pages we see The Witching Hour hosts Mildred, Mordred, and Cynthia. This humorous 2.67-page prologue and one-page epilogue has Mildred and Mordred visiting Cynthia’s ultra-mod apartment, a dwelling “so clean and antiseptic” that it terrifies the two older witches. The final panel features the young, fashionable Cynthia, a black cat perched on her arm, lounging in one of those stylishly hip chairs that were so en vogue in the late 1960s. Cynthia’s cat reappears with her in the epilogue.
Since these pages ran without credits, I’ve seen a few different attributions to the artwork, alternately Mike Sekowsky pencils & Vince Colletta inks, Mike Sekowsky pencils & Dick Giordano inks, and Mike Sekowsky finishes over Alex Toth layouts. So basically the only thing anyone *can* agree on is that Sekowsky worked on this humorous little prelude and denouement.
Sekowsky is one of those artists who is somewhat underrated. He was the original penciler on the Justice League of America, and later did good, solid work on Wonder Woman in the late 1960s. Sekowsky was also a regular contributor to DC’s romance titles. His depiction of Cynthia is a good demonstration of his aptitude at drawing beautiful women, although he crucially retains the slightly odd, skeletal facial features from Toth’s design.
