Dan Sehn is also the Writer of Argo 5 and Sorority of Power. He enjoys working out and watching pro wrestling in his rare free time. He has a new Kickstarter out now for comics, including his own Nature Man #2. Dan was nice enough to stop by First Comics News to let our readers know all about Nature Man.
First Comics News: For people who missed the first issue, who is the Nature Man?
Dan Sehn: Nature Man is inspired by the public domain Silver Age character Nature Boy. Created by Superman creator Jerry Siegel and artist John Buscema, the character was a short-lived adventure comic that continued the numbering sequence from Danny Blaze beginning with issue #3. Following issue #5, the series changed its title again to Li’l Rascal Twins. Our story takes place with the assumption that Nature Boy has been presumed dead after an unpublished final adventure in 1957. As with the original, Nature Man gained his powers from a pantheon of gods who represented the different elements of nature.
Dan: Nature Man recovered from his death in 1957 but has a bit of amnesia and can’t recall how he met his demise.
1st: How did he arise from his grave?
Dan: Being buried within the Earth, he was able to draw from the powers of nature and miraculously recover.
1st: Who is Hector Gonzales?
Dan: Upon recovering, Nature Man was quite disorientated but luckily ran into a good samaritan in Hector who helped him back on his feet.
1st: What’s the story for issue two?
Dan: Nature Man explores the fate of his parent’s company Crandall Industries in an attempt to find his place in this strange new world. While doing so, another public domain hero joins his adventure!
1st: Nature Man #1 had its own Kickstarter, why is Nature Man #2 an add-on to the DragonManx #1 and Chronicles of the METAversal #1 Kickstarter?
Dan: We did start with Nature Man #1 but Thunderzone is a connected universe by multiple creators not unlike the early Image universe. So one book at a time would have been a very slow release schedule. With a number of Thunderzone creators patiently waiting their turn in the spotlight, I thought it was important to highlight these new titles while still giving people a continuation of what we previously started.
1st: What is the difference between the Argo Comics Universe and Thunderzone?
Dan: The Argo Comics Universe is essentially the DanSehnVerse while Thunderzone is a multiple-creator universe (myself included). Everyone retains the rights to their own creations and has the freedom to work together in crossovers or cameos. In that respect, we even see Damion Waldbrunn’s Realmer X showing up as a cameo in Ezekiel Zhong-Han Azib’s Chronicles of the Metaversal.
1st: Can you also add-on Nature Man #1 on this Kickstarter?
Dan: All the past Thunderzone releases are available as add-ons in this campaign.
1st: What is the minimum pledge to add-on a digital copy of Nature Man #2?
Dan: Any of our past releases can be a digital add-on for $6.
1st: What is the minimum pledge to add-on a print copy of Nature Man #2?
Dan: All physical copy add-ons are $15.
1st: For anyone on the fence, about what makes Nature Man #2 so cool, no true
comic fan should miss this comic?
Dan: Nature Man is Earth’s guardian supreme and will play an important role in the Thunderzone Universe. The first issue is a bit like our Action Comics #1 and there are some other public domain characters that are added into the mix as the story continues. Also worth noting is that starting with this campaign there will be no general release on new Thunderzone titles so our readers can more easily keep track of us through Kickstarter. We have lots in store so we definitely don’t want anyone to miss out!
