REMEMBERING THE CRITTER QUEEN

It took me 30 years to actually publish my first comic. When we started G-Man Comics we wanted to help others on their superhero journeys. We allowed others to have their original superheroes join the G-Man team, for brief appearances. In 2021, First Comics News’ Matthew Szewczyk pledged to join the G-Men and wanted Susan Lowney, the Critter Queen, to join. Susan was a real person, and her husband Patrick worked with Gilbert Monsanto and Jim Burrows to develop her superhero persona. Patrick said “She always cared for children and pets. Also, Susan was a nurse, so that could be her alter ego type of thing. Although, she always told me she liked pets more than people.” Critter Queen was a fun character. After she appeared in Simon N. Kirby: The Agent #4, she came back to celebrate Atomik Bombshell’s birthday in Simon N. Kirby: The Agent #5. Susan suffered from frontal temporal lobe dementia for seven years. Two years ago today, the real-life Susan Lowney passed away. We are honored and humbled beyond words to be part of her superhero journey. We wanted to take this moment to appreciate the Critter Queen on this anniversary of her passing.

Our best wishes go to her family on this solemn day.
