CARRIE FISHER – October 21, 1956 – December 27, 2016

On December 27, 2016, at 8:55 am local time in Los Angeles, Carrie Fisher drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.

We not exactly…

Fisher died at age 60 on December 27, 2016, at 8:55 am local time in Los Angeles. Billie Lourd, Fisher’s daughter, confirmed her mother’s death in a statement read to the press. Fisher is survived by her daughter, her mother Debbie Reynolds, her brother Todd Fisher and her half-sisters, actresses Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher.

On December 23, 2016, Fisher went into cardiac arrest while on a flight from London to Los Angeles; a fellow actor seated near Fisher reported that she had stopped breathing. A passenger onboard the flight performed CPR on Fisher until paramedics arrived. After being taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center by ambulance, she was placed on a ventilator. Fisher was reported to have been stabilized while in the hospital, but Todd Fisher later said he could not classify his sister’s condition, and that she was still in the intensive care unit.

In her book, Wishful Drinking, Fisher had said “I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.” That is why we started this report that way.

Carrie Fisher was an actress, screenwriter, author, producer, and speaker. She was best know for and most beloved for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films.

Carrie was born in Beverly Hills, California, the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. Her paternal grandparents were Russian Jewish immigrants. Her mother was raised a Nazarene, and is of English and Scots-Irish ancestry. Her younger brother is producer and actor Todd Fisher, and her half-sisters are actresses Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher, whose mother is singer and actress Connie Stevens. When Fisher was two, her parents divorced after her father left Reynolds for her mother’s close friend, actress Elizabeth Taylor, the widow of her father’s best friend Mike Todd.

Fisher starred as Princess Leia in George Lucas’ Star Wars opposite Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. At the time, she believed the script for Star Wars was fantastic, but did not expect many people to agree with her. During filming, she had an affair with Ford, who was then married to Mary Marquardt, which she stated was “so intense … It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”
