I have been a Barbie girl as far back as I remember! Sitting on my grandma’s bed playing with the Malibu Barbie she gifted me. Designing new outfits for her and the rest of her girlfriends, Barbie inspired me, she told me, “ We Girls can do ANYTHING!” That and I had fun making my feet look like hers, high arc and ready for ballet slippers, astronaut books, or swing heels… I LOVE BARBIE! Something I don’t think I shared but one of the very first mainstream comics I tried out for WAS Barbie!! And I actually GOT the gig, only to be told soon after that the book was canceled… my heart broke. The next mainstream comic that I was assigned, was from Archie Comics!! So getting to do this summer Babbi Beach Party Cover and story wax is intoxicating!!! I poured every ounce of my Barbie beating heart into both!! First the cover! I researched the upcoming movie’s costumes, reminisced through Barbie’s wardrobe throughout the years- then assigned the Archie characters their outfits! Ronnie the mod beach Barbie, Katy Keene classic Barbie, Betty Rollerblade Barbie… Took two days to complete the cover and I had a ball! AND here’s my EXCLUSIVE Variant Cover!!! I came up with the idea when looking at my Barbie collection! Limited to 250 and you can ADD ON a Retro Beach Original Art Pin Up of any Archie character. Here I did a Betty. ( You can request her if she hasn’t been claimed as yet). Pin Up is done in Marker and on 6×8″ Bristol Paper.
